Every single time I drive my car this stupid thing falls off and I say “I need to glue that back on” but then I forget. It’s been two years and I still haven’t

In the time you took these pics, and made this post you could’ve already fixed it. I wouldn’t say you’re “lazy”, but your time management skills are lacking.

Same thing on the shifter in my 505. It keeps falling off, but I haven’t glued it back in over a year. I spend so much time fixing/upgrading my cars, but I always forget that spot until it falls off again and lands between the seat rails and the trans tunnel.

Exactly! I always forget until it happens. Now that I've made this post, though, I'm gonna fix it. I will.

I say pull them all off and wrap/paint them in something cool. Then it becomes a proper project and you’ll be motivated to do it all at once.
HFV has no HFV. But somehow has 2 motorcycles

you could put some sweet carbon fiber wrap on it before you put it back on.

May I suggest using a few small (like, pea-sized) bits of automotive-grade Butyl Tape? If you’re not familiar with it, it is pretty interesting. Not like any “tape” you’ve ever seen before. It’s this moldable, pliable, eternally-tacky stuff that is great for this sort of application, because it will hold the trim in place, prevent any sort squeak/rattle/vibration (because it’s gummy) and yet, still renders the trim piece removable, should you ever need to get it off for maintenance or repair of whatever is behind it (HVAC control unit, in this case).
I have used it numerous times in similar applications where the original fasteners of a given trim piece have failed or gone missing, or behind a panel that tends to squeak/rattle; I highly recommend it. A roll of it won’t break the bank, and it will likely come in handy multiple times over. I’ve been using the same roll for years.

My pleasure. I hope it works out well for you.
It should not require much time or effort at all. As someone who knows (all too well) how damning of an affliction procrastination can be, I value these properties. I think you will too.
The only downside is you will probably get a little of the residue on the tips of your fingers from handling and molding the stuff. Luckily, some mineral spirits (or your preferred brand of mechanic’s hand cleaner) will make fairly short work of cleaning it off.

Trim ring around the speedometer in the Benz. Occasionally falls off, rattles like hell when it’s on, haven’t fixed in 4 years. Maybe next time it falls off... There is also a plastic lens over the speedo that’s rattling like crazy, that won’t be easy to fix.
